# Introduction

This guide describes processes that applied when data downloads were possible by default. 

Data is now accessed through the UK Biobank Research Analysis Platform (please see [here](https://community.ukbiobank.ac.uk/hc/en-gb/community/posts/19996604847133-Changing-the-way-UK-Biobank-data-is-made-available-to-researchers-around-the-world)). 

This guide provides information for projects that have specifically been granted an exemption to download data and descriptive information about data that may have been downloaded prior to the change in policy.
